Invasive Aspergillosis in Cancer Patients

چکیده

The incidence of Aspergillus infections among cancer patients has increased over the last 30 years, despite overall advances in supportive care. In this issue of Oncology, Dr. Bow thoroughly and succinctly reviews the potential reasons for this recalcitrant problem and the currently available approaches for preventing and treating aspergillosis. It seems, however, that the news about Aspergillus is never good. Mortality remains over 65% in cases treated with currently available antifungal agents, and diagnostic methods remain inexact and insensitive.[1]
